About the Artist

Philip Anthony Capasso was born on May 22, 1984. However, Philip was not always his name. He entered this world as Victor Hugo Cifuentez in Colombia. Due to the harsh conditions faced by single mothers in Colombia, his mother, Luz Cifuentez, was unable to afford to care for her children.

Luz did not give birth in a conventional hospital. Instead, she was taken to a remote commune in the countryside, where women and girls were housed in bunks until they gave birth. After childbirth, these women were confronted with an impossible demand how would they pay for the so-called "hospital services," knowing full well they had no means to do so? As a result, their newborns were taken and sold into adoption.

This was Philip’s fate, a tragic experience shared by many other children in similar circumstances.

Philip was introduced to art through his grandmother, who was an artist herself. At an early age, they would paint together in her cozy upstairs art studio. Although Philip wasn't immediately captivated by painting, he grew older and expanded his repertoire by incorporating digital tools. He began working with computers to aid in his artistry, using Adobe Photoshop to design and transform his ideas into reality.

During high school, Philip interned for his uncle at Luxottica Eyewear, where he contributed to designing advertisements for various eyewear companies.

For many years, Philip stepped away from the art scene to focus on his career, owning and managing a plumbing and heating company in New York City. However, it was in Astoria that Philip rekindled his passion for art. One night, he picked up some spray paint cans and nozzles and began creating vibrant pieces inside his apartment.

Using imagination as the core of each artwork and adding a touch of magic, Philip now loves producing works that leave both your eyes and mind in awe.
